iExel Education Trust
As the CEO of iExel Education Trust, Professor M. Khurshid Khan provides the overall leadership and direction for the Trust and its three academies (IQRA Primary, Bronte Girls’ Secondary Academy – BGA, Feversham Girls’ Secondar Academy – FGA) within the agreed vision and strategy. As part of his community work, Professor Khan was instrumental in successfully establishing FGA (since mid-1980s), BGA (2017), and Namal University (2002). He led the team which achieved Voluntary Aided Status (VAS) of FGA, the first Muslim Girls’ school in the country to be so recognised (2000) by the Government. He was also instrumental lead for establishing BGA as a new free school.
He is also currently Professor Emeritus of the University of Bradford, where he gained over 33 years’ experience of university learning, teaching, research, and academic administration. He was seconded by the University (2002 – 2008) to lead as the first Director for the establishment of Namal University in Mianwali, Pakistan (a Project of Imran Khan, the then Chancellor of University of Bradford). This project provided quality education to a degree level for poor people in an under-developed region of Pakistan. Namal University is a now success story, having academic links with national and international universities.
Professor Khan was on a sabbatical as the Vice-Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan (AWKUM) during 2017-2020. This University is the 2nd largest in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan, with over 14,000 students, 1,600 staff, and 4 campuses. He led all transformational activities and initiatives, ensuring the effective implementation of his vision and strategy, and raising AWKUM’s rankings to a considerable level. According to the Times Higher Education (THE) Global University Rankings (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004) publications, AWKUM has been in 2nd position within Pakistan, and top ~750 in the world.
